Clothing technology
When looking for a clothing their are many things to look for.
- Waterproof: to call a product waterproof according to British standards it must have
to be able survive the pressure from 1500 mm head of water, the pressure can be increased
by sitting or kneeling and rucksacks for this reason we start with our lowest at
5000 mm for adults, although we have materials as high as 20,000mm. This would be
necessary if you intending to carry a heavy ruc-sack. I personally have a jacket
that is only 8000 mm.
- Insulation: a few years ago puffa jackets were very popular but a jacket with normal
amounts of insulation if it is cold are better and layer with fleeces making jacket
useful in all weathers.
- Pockets: make sure it has a lift pass pocket on the left side and a few large pockets
for goggles etc.
- Snowskirt: this is to stop the snow going up your back
- Vents: under arm vents can be very handy to be keep cool in spring.
- Reinforced areas: the most likely areas for this are on the inside area of a ski
trouser and on the cuffs
